Morning Whale Watch

Posted by EM@KING.NET

During this two-hour whale watch, the Teralani searches for the Pacific humpback whale. Each winter, the Pacific humpback whale migrates from Alaska to the waters off the coast of Maui. These "gentle giants" are one of Maui's most prized visitors with their spectacular breaching and tail slapping. Throughout whale season (December 15 - April 15), the Teralani departs each day from Kaanapali for a daily excursion. A marine naturalist is onboard to offer insights and education on the humpback whale. ...

Local Advertising slumping but will soars in Handheld.

Posted by Anonymous On 5/22/2009 12:02:00 AM 0 comments
"Local advertising across newspapers, direct mail, TV, radio, yellow pages, outdoor, magazines and online is expected to slip to $144.4 billion by 2013, down from $155 billion last year, says BIA.

Local ad revenue may hit a low of $135.8 billion in 2010, before climbing a bit in 2011, according to BIA (via Adweek).

Some media, including newspapers, local TV, radio, print yellow pages, and local regional magazines, will need to rethink their traditional business models and look to the internet to find new revenue streams in order to survive. Radio and TV internet revenue will climb to $1.9 billion in 2013, from $805 million last year, according to some estimates.

But other media, including outdoor and direct mail, may be in for a tougher challenge." (2009, Mediabuyerplanner.com)

Internet user IDs turn honest

I am reading this article and I would like to know if my visitors are now part of this change? Read the article for details.

"In the 1998 box office hit “You’ve Got Mail,” the anonymous screen names of Meg Ryan (Shopgirl) and Tom Hanks (NY152) turned unwitting foes into paramours, giving Americans their first dose of a digital-age romantic comedy.

Early AOL users may chuckle now at that signature dial-up modem din: a strung-out chorus of pings and bleeps interrupted by the fuzz of static and white noise. And these days, handles like Shopgirl and NY152 seem so, well, 1998.

More than 10 years later, Internet handles are practically second to one’s identity. They signal our arrival in e-mail inboxes and can often be the first impression we make. User names of yore-college-era holdovers or an inscrutable series of computer-generated numbers tacked on to one’s login-are increasingly frowned upon as unprofessional and frivolous." (2009, ajc.com)
Righ now, I still use my website for this purpose and I will introduce myself when we have a formal communication e.g. through email or phone conversation. The primary reason is to let our visitors to remember our website address e.g. KING.NET, just like in the making of our business brand.

Here's another interesting information for future use of the Internet and how you will address them now.
"My wife will kill me for saying this,” he said. “If we ever have kids, I’ll only name them something if the domain name is available.” (2009, ajc.com)
I actually registered all names of my children e.g. firstnamelastname.com. I can't register our lastname as it was taken years ago. So if you have the opportunity to register your lastname or your fullname, do it soon before someone else register the domain name.

Where to get a low cost maintenance of domain name for your family? Here some of our sponsors.
NeedName.com - Enom Technology Partner (ETP) that provide low cost and easy management of your domain names.
Moscom.com - provide 24x7 customer service for your domain names and web hosting.

Another great advertising from Intel

Nerd Rock! Check it out.

SM.TV is now live and ready to serve you.

We are proud to announce that SM.TV short URL service is now live. And yes, this is a short URL service just like other short services that you see everyday.

We thought that another website offering free service is always a good thing, to create a friendly competition so the business that provides these kind of service will stay free for all Internet users. A friendly competition will help move the technology to the next level so they can provide us a better service and better product.

We are using an open source script coded by R Guerin of TightURL.com , here's a sneak peek of some useful features:
  • Squeeze that long URL to a "really" short URL e.g. using http://sm.tv/h to redirect to a long URL address where no one can remember. This is the reason we use SM.TV domain name for this specific purpose.
  • Checks submitted and accepted URLs against SURBL "Lists of website that appeared in unsolicited messages" (2009, SURBL) and URIBL "Lists domains taht appear in spam, NOT where they were sent" (2009, URIBL) to prevent abuse by the Bad People of the Internet.
  • It is a FREE software, licensed under the GNU GPL.
Please visit the website SM.TV to test drive our Short URL service and let us know what you think.

Great to know that Google is now providing free ad manager just like having your own hosted open source ad manager (phpad). The service is still in beta and currently a free service to use. I'm hoping that they will offer this service free of charge after the beta stage. Here's a few words from Google Ad Manager.

====

Google Ad Manager is a hosted ad management solution that can help you sell, schedule, deliver, and measure all of your directly-sold and network-based inventory.

  • Simple, intuitive user interface: Decrease training time and trafficking steps with simplified tagging and inventory management.

  • Google serving speed and reliability: Ensure quicker ad delivery and fewer reporting discrepancies.

  • Significant cost savings! Pay no I.T. infrastructure, maintenance, or bandwidth costs.

Take a tour of Ad Manager:

Yahoo! will change the way you monetize your website. Instead of plogging this new advertising management platform from Yahoo! please watch the video preview of AMP!

Here's the link: http://advertising.yahoo.com/amp/

I'm just hoping that they introduce this service to the world not just North America. Hopefully the added "geographic" targetted advertising will do the job.

Let's wait for Q3 2008 launch of AMP! from Yahoo!
