Morning Whale Watch

Posted by EM@KING.NET

During this two-hour whale watch, the Teralani searches for the Pacific humpback whale. Each winter, the Pacific humpback whale migrates from Alaska to the waters off the coast of Maui. These "gentle giants" are one of Maui's most prized visitors with their spectacular breaching and tail slapping. Throughout whale season (December 15 - April 15), the Teralani departs each day from Kaanapali for a daily excursion. A marine naturalist is onboard to offer insights and education on the humpback whale. ...

.ECO - A new waste of money

Posted by Anonymous On 3/30/2009 12:51:00 AM 0 comments
I'm reading one article in Popsci website about the proposal for .ECO domain extension. I share the same personal view with this new extension. It cost me more money to keep my brand.

"The point being: there is no point. These extraneous TLDs -- the proposed ".eco" domain included -- succeed only in confusing users and bilking Web site owners out of an additional $30-$50 each (if they even bother with them at all). In order for ".eco" and similar TLDs to gain widespread acceptance, there needs to be some kind of standardization in the way they're used. For example, if you type in "Google.jobs," you're simply redirected to the Google homepage. But if you type in "CareerBuilder.jobs," you're taken to the section of the CareerBuilder site that deals with employment opportunities specific to the CareerBuilder organization. The latter makes a lot of sense. If users expected to reach the human resources department of a given company by typing in ".jobs" instead of ".com", I think ".jobs" would have a shot at being something people use. Similarly, most sites buy up the ".org" domain just to redirect it to a homepage. This makes ".org" completely meaningless. "Google.org" on the other hand, redirects to a page dedicated to the company's philanthropic initiatives. Again, that makes sense." (2009, Popsci.com)

This is the same problem with .TEL domain extension ( read Whaddya think of .TEL domain extension). I'm not interested so I did not buy my my domain related to my business as it will cost me $$ per year maintenance. I can use http://tel.king.net/ anyway and it will not cost me anything.

Paying with cash?

Posted by Anonymous On 10/24/2008 01:26:00 AM 0 comments
I am one of today's consumers that spend cash to control the budget within my means. Our family agreed to this approach to control our budget, making sure every spending is within our monthly budget. This approach help us achieve our goal, whichever comes first, build our emergency funds, more savings, retirements and help fund our kids education (College). If we execute one of these goals, we are ok but not good enough. If we can accomplish at least 2 goals, then we are better.

I read this article from CNN Money and I would like to share with you.
“The latest fall style for credit-addicted Americans: paying with cash.”, continue reading this article in CNN Money.

I hope I was able to share some useful information today.

Money: Trusting a pro with your nest egg

I read this article today and would like to share with you. Very interesting information regarding your financial planner.

Rule of thumb: Never sign your papers on your initial meeting with your financial adviser. It is important to sleep on it, check things out. I guess this is applicable to every life changing decision.

---
NEW YORK (Money) -- Question: I recently retired and visited a Certified Financial Planner on the advice of a friend. He developed a portfolio for me, at no charge, and presented me with an investment plan for a fee of 1.35% per annum. I scrutinized all the paperwork he sent me. It seems that in addition to the 1.35%, there are a number of hidden fees, including various fund fees within the portfolio that he said nothing about. What should I do?

The Mole's Answer: The first thing you should do is pat yourself on your back. I can tell you that I've never actually met anyone who scrutinized all of the paperwork their financial planner sent them, before entering into a relationship. I'm impressed.
