I am wondering if I can apply for Trademarks for my "KING.NET" domain name. I am using KING.NET obviously as my main blog, to transact business in various ways from IT Consulting, Domain Name Management, Content Management System (CMS) management, Email Services, provide Howto Guide and other IT-related online services.
After reading this article I need to take time out and discuss it with local lawyers to help me file my trademark application for "KING.NET".
"Will the Domain Name Owner or Trademark Owner Win a Dispute?
Domain name owners frequently open their mail to find a letter from a law firm representing a trademark owner. These letters - called “cease and desist letters” by lawyers - demand that the domain name owner stop using the domain name, transfer the domain name to the trademark owner, and provide information about the dates of use and money made from the use of the domain name." (2009, Examiner.com)I've checked the current owners of other extension for KING domain name. Here's the results as of this date.

If you are looking to lower your cost maintaining and managing your company email here's a list of alternative email servers out there.
- Google Apps provides custom email like JohnDoe@king.net. Google Calendar organize your schedule and events. Google Docs share online documents, presentations, and spreadsheets. I personally using spreadsheet sharing to keep the book updated with other personnel. Google Sites for website and group wikis, very limited features at this time. I have to outsource my CMS website. And if the 7GB free email is not big enough for you, then you might need to consider the Premium version. Check it at http://www.google.com/apps
- Zimbra is now a Yahoo company but still support open source version of mail server. Is truly a modern, innovative messaging and collaboration application according to the site. I personally haven't tried this software but looking forward to test it. I read the features available for Zimbra and might consider it as good alternative mail server for your costly Exchange Server. Don't get me wrong, I love Exchange Server and I hope Microsoft will consider releasing an open source version or just lower the cost of ownership.
- Kerio is another mail server that needs your attention or let your IT Manager check this article. "Kerio MailServer is a comprehensive Microsoft Exchange alternative that simplifies administration and lower cost of ownership". (2009, Kerio.com).
- other's free mail product that I forgot the name.
Well, this is a short list for you to consider. I know we have hundreds out there. If you know one and care to share with us, please use the comment to post.
Thank you.
My primary use of iPhone is to read my company emails, personal email address and other emails through Exchange Server 2003/2007 active sync and IMAP (here's my previous post, setting up email in iPhone). The games, music, surfing NET, etc. are just add-on for this cool gadget mobile phone.
Whaddya know that iPhone 3G S is an excellent Network Admin Tools (geeks Swiss Army Tool)? . I can't go out without iPhone dealing with my business. I read and respond to all customers inquiry wherever I am and ofcourse I can make the necessary network administration tasks while I'm out of the office.
I will introduce you two remote management tools to manage your Windows and Linux Server. I personally and highly recommend that you buy these tools.
For Windows Server Remote Desktop tool, I am currently using WinAdmin released by Carter Harrison LLC. Using this tool, I can easily connect to my windows servers and perform the necessary server administrations. As of this date, it is currently on sale for only $7.99 to download.
Well if you're managing Linux servers. I recommend TouchTerm SSH released by Aji LLC. I am using this tool to manage my dedicated linux servers. Very easy to use SSH tool to connect to your linux server. The best of all it will only cost you $0.99 to download.
I know there are some advance tools available in Apple Apps Store, there are so many of them and I can't test them all. If you are using different Network Admin tools and would like to share with us, please don't hesitate to post your comments or send me email so I can post it here.
Enjoy reading.
UPDATE: I email the support @iphonewinadmin.com regarding WinAdmin security encryption, because of admin privileges concern. Here's the answer direct from Carter.
"Hi Emil,
Thanks for your email. WinAdmin uses 128 bit encryption on the RDP layer. This is also known as 'high security' in windows Server 2003 or 2008. This is a standard encryption protocol for RDP and is currently the highest level of encryption available for an iPhone RDP client. I appreciate your article on WinAdmin and if you have any other questions, I'm here to help.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Carter"

Just like other webmasters or publishers, you want to put up your own Privacy Policy to inform your visitor when they browse to your website. For corporate business, they have a legal department to create one for them easy. What about if you are an entrepreneurs or a small business owner managing your ecommerce website?
"A good privacy notice is easy to find, easy to read, and comprehensively explains all your online information practices. It also provides online visitors an opportunity to make informed decisions about the collection and use of their information. As part of good business practices, posting a notice is an important first step in defining your online policies and towards answering one of the major concerns (and barriers) voiced by web-users when going online.
A privacy notice is also a promise. As a promise, it is not enough to simply post such a notice. To effectively promote trust and confidence in you and your website, the provisions of a privacy notice must also be fully implemented as part of a larger privacy policy. Careful consideration should therefore go into the creation of a notice so it accurately reflects your own unique information practices and you can guarantee a faithful adherence to its provisions." (2009, bbonline.org)
Well, here at KING.NET we provide answer to all (I think) the questions posted by our visitors. If we can't answer it direct, we search and consult other experts in the field. For this article regarding Privacy Policy, I found a sample that you can use right away provided by bbonline.org.

GoDaddy.com is one of the cheapest domain name registration out there. I registered some domain names from GoDaddy, if not from NeedName.com website. I even bought Hostage.TV
from them years ago.

So why Bob Parsons or GoDaddy doesn't want you to register .TV? Maybe he was not able to get what he want for .TV or maybe he doesn't like the current management of .TV registry.
For whatever reason, business must go on and deal other opportunity if you fail to get one. You win some and you lose some. That's one part being a businessman.
Tuvalu is sinking! This is not a flash news, everyone in the domain name industry already knew it. Searching the Internet, you will see the article written by Kevin Maney year 2004 discussing the opportunity and risk in domain name investment. In this article "VeriSign spokesman Tom Galvin tells me that a defunct country's Internet domain lives on." (2009, USAToday.com). But, ICANN published an article in opposite direction of Tom Galvin's statement. I can't find the document, still searching the Internet and ICANN for this information.
It's just a matter time to find out what will be the future of .TV domain name. I highly recommend that ICANN change the status of .TV from ccTLD to one of gTLD extension, and also consider changing the price format of .TV domain name registration. Use the .com .net and .org registration cost, remove the premium .TV registration.

Let's all take a break in posting articles and learn the basic of swine flu virus. I have no idea so I went surfing the Internet to get some information and found this from CNN website.
"Swine Flue?
Swine influenza, or swine flu, is a respiratory disease in pigs caused by a certain strain of type A influenza virus. Outbreaks of swine flue are not common among humans: Most people who get swine flue are infected through contact with pigs.
The severity of swine flu in humans can vary from mild to sever.
How it spreads?
Although people typically get swine flue from contact with pigs, there are have been cases of person-to-person transmission. Experts think coughing, sneezing and contaminated surfaces can spread the infection among people, but it's unknown how easily that happens.
The virus cannot be obtained through eating properly cooked pork or any pork product.
Symptoms
The sysmptoms are similar to those of the common flu: fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Also, like the common flu, swine flu may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.
Symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting have also been reported. Infection from the virus can lead to sever illness, including pneumonia and respiratory failure, and can be fata.
Treatment
Antiviral drugs, such as oseltamivir or zanamivir, are recommended for treatment and prevention of swine flu. Antiviral drugs are prescription medicines that keep flu viruses from reproducing in the body. Antiviral drugs work best if treatment is started within two days of the onset of symtoms." (2009, CNN.com)

Just like me, I know you would like to know more about the Web 3.0 features and advancement that it will bring to your website. I know Google will adapt this changes to their platform so I guess I'm ok for now. Here's an article I read from AssociatedCities.com today:
"ST. LOUIS – As the world turns and time turns into the inevitable tomorrow, what does that future hold for GeoDomains faced with Web 3.0?
In the first couple phases of the Internet, Web sites established themselves within the miraculous realm of just being there and being accessible by anyone with a computer and modem.
In Web 2.0, the bells and whistles were added and the interplay between the user and provider became more prevalent.
What are experts expecting for Web 3.0? How does an average Web site and GeoDomain owner keep up? Here are some predictions and expectations for the next phase of the Internet." (2009, AssociatedCities.com).

I'm planning to buy my own Netbook, just like you confuse where to get one or which one is better.
I have a basic requirements for my netbook, as listed below:
Leave us your feedback. Thank you.
I have a basic requirements for my netbook, as listed below:
- at low PRICE as possible.
- at least 1GB memory. The 2 or 4 Gb memory will be nice but the price will go up.
- at least 80Gb hard disk. Harddisk is cheap so this will not be a problem.
- with Wireless and RJ-45 connector
- CD/DVD optional but it would be great to have it built-in. The Panasonic CF-w4 or w5 comes with built-in DVD and they still manage to make it small. The price is not within my budget.
Leave us your feedback. Thank you.
I was reading this article from eWeek this morning and I would like to share this to IT Consultants and other-related consulting business that the CyberSecurity Act 2009 will might change the way they do business. I hope for the better.
Text of S.773 as Introduced in Senate
Cybersecurity Act of 2009
"A bill to ensure the continued free flow of commerce within the United States and with its global trading partners through secure cyber communications, to provide for the continued development and exploitation of the Internet and intranet communications for such purposes, to provide for the development of a cadre of information technology specialists to improve and maintain effective cybersecurity defenses against disruption, and for other purposes." (2009, OpenCongress.org)
I like Section 7. Licensing and Certification of Cybersecurity Professional. This enforce the mandatory licensing as a provider of cybersecurity services. This will help us easily justify the continuing education for IT Consultants.
The Section 13. Cybersecurity competition and challenge. Their main objective is to attract, identity, evaluate, and recruit talented individuals for the Federal information technology workforce and stimulate innovation in vasic and applied cybersecurity research, technology development and prototype demostration that have the potential for application to the Federal information technology activities of the Federal Government. At this time, there is no check list of what types of competitions and challenges for the contest. The Director will establish different competition and targeting High school students, Undergraduate, Graduate, Academic and research institutions.
The Defcon (yearly black hat security conference) is providing a variety of contest in cybersecurity such as Capture the Flag, Defcon Bots, Defcon Shoot formerly known as Wardriving contest with my team won 1st place, read the article at Wardrive.com, and other technology-related contest.

I'm wondering how to find out where my callers are coming from? I forget the website address that I used in the past to check my callers origin. So I searched the Internet for this specific service. Though I wasn't successful of getting the one I know, blessing in disguise I've found ReversePhoneDetective.com service.According to the website:
"Discover who's calling! Whether you're researching a phone bill, tracing a unwanted caller, or verifying address, Reverse Phone Detective make it fast and easy to conduct a phone search." (2009, ReversePhoneDetective.com)
When I test their service, they can tell if the phone number is mobile or landlline and the location of the caller. Since I am only using the basic service, you can actually pay to receive a full report for only $14.95 or Premium Membership unlimited Reverse Phone lookups for 1 year.
Check it out yourself and post your feedback here.

Well your wait is over. Dictionary.com is offering FREE apps for your iPhone. Yes, it is free compare to Mirriam Webster Dictionary that offer the same service for $24.95."The app let you easily access spelled words, alphabetical indexing, synonyms exampel sentences, non-standard uses, word origin and history. Another cool feature of the app is the ability to access definitions and synonyms offline. You can also hear pronunciations of words. The app store currently features ten dictionary apps." (2009, TechCrunch.com)
This will be in addition of my own personal iPhone free apps e.g. Translator, Skype and Holy Bible, all of them are for FREE. Check them out.
Thank you,
This is a follow up from a recent post about Skype in your iPhone or iPod.It took me 5-10 minutes to download the Skype into my iPhone, install and login to my account. When you successfully login to your Skype account, the program will provide your a contact list including their pictures posted to Skype contact directory.
I'm so excited about it, so I tried it right away using my existing connection e.g. GPRS. I've got this error.
"Skype calls over 3G networks are currently not supported due to restrictions that may be placed on your data plan. For more information visit www.skype.com."
Maybe Skype hasn't realize that iPhone Data Plan in USA via AT&T (Cingular) is unlimited for a fixed monthy fees.
So I've tested this using WiFi connection and successfully initiated a call to a friend. It worked!
By the way, I was not able use my Jawbone bluebooth while using Skype iPhone.

Early this morning I'm working with one of our laptop in the office. It's been a while since the last time I've used the docking station for a laptop. Before I go on with my story, let me give you a link about docking station so you know what I'm referring to.
So I place my Dell Latitude D410 in the docking station to test the DVD drive. When I about to remove it, I have no idea how to get it done. I focus on pushing the button in the left side of the docking station but no success. I told myself, I don't need a brain surgery to figure this out.
Well, 10 minutes later I'm still looking a way to get it done. Hmm, search the Internet for information but most links I've clicked are all about Dell specifications and promotional links. This is the reason I wrote this blog, to help other techie out there to get the answer right away.
To find the answer of my own. I've used my hands to slide on all sides and viola. I've found the un-latch lever that nicely blend on the docking station of Dell laptop. You will be able to see it left upper-corner of the docking station if you are facing your computer.
Hope this help you save your 10 minutes looking for this information through the Internet.
Cheers for now.
