Good News Mobile Phone access in Washington DC Underground Railway

This is good news to all AT&T/Cingular Mobile Phone users (I am one of them). I've got this information today from Cellular-News.com website regarding the improvement of Washington DC Underground Railway. I think this is about time. I have 30-45 minutes dead coverage (or worst when we are using a single track) when I ride the Metro here in Vienna going to Washington DC and vice versa.

"Mobile phone coverage on the Washington metro railway is to be improved following a decision last week by the Metro’s Board. Four major cell phone companies -- Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel, AT&T and T-Mobile -- will build a new wireless infrastructure in the underground rail system during the next four years." (2009, Cellular-News.com)

According to the website, twenty of the busiest underground rail stations (I hope including Orange track) will have expanded cell phone service (coverage) by the end of this year and the entire rail system will be equipped by 2012.

I guess there is a light at the end of the tunnel. :)
Cheers for now,
